Velindre Ride with the Pride

Do you love rugby? Are you passionate about fitness? If you said yes to both these questions, then you need to sign up to Velindre’s latest charity challenge: Ride with the Pride.

Ride with the Pride is an unmissable cycling challenge that will take place in June 2017. It involves cycling 400km through New Zealand with two former British and Irish Lions and an All Black!

Spindogs have worked with Velindre since 2014 and we were delighted when they asked us to improve Ride with the Pride’s online presence. Subsequently we created a landing page for the challenge, so that participants can easily sign up and find all the information they need.

The whole team loved working on this project and it is still the talk of Spindogs HQ, as everyone is enthusiastic about this unique challenge.

Here are some of the reasons why we believe that this challenge is a once in a lifetime opportunity:

New Zealand

1. It takes place in New Zealand

This challenge is by no means a holiday, but it will be impossible not to enjoy a cycle through New Zealand. The ride will take place on the magnificent North Island and you will be able to visit Auckland and Matamata, which is home to the Hobbit village in the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

2. You’ll become best friends with Lions legends

Ride with the Pride already has some very famous participants, as Lions Legends Shane Williams and Mike Hall have been the first to sign up for the challenge. They will also be joined by All Black and former Cardiff Blues captain Xavier Rush, who will definitely be able to tell a story or two about New Zealand!

3. Your physical fitness will be tested

The ride through New Zealand will involve up to 8 hours of cycling a day and this will be gruelling at times, as participants will encounter rough terrain and steep hills. This means that everyone’s fitness will be tested to its limits, but participants will be fully supported and the challenge allows everyone to cycle at their own pace.

4. The trip ends in time for the first 2017 Test Match

Rugby is a huge part of this challenge so it made sense for the ride to finish just in time for the first Test Match of 2017. What better way to toast your hard work than by watching an impressive game of rugby?

5. Ride with pride and save lives

Finally, and most importantly, this challenge will help to support Velindre’s ‘Victory over Cancer’ campaign. To participate, fundraisers must raise a minimum of £7000 and this money will be used to fund ground-breaking research and buy specialist equipment. By participating in this challenge, Velindre can continue to support cancer patients and their families through difficult times.

So, what are you waiting for?! Sign up today and make 2017 an unforgettable year.
