Recently, we welcomed Amanda Williams to the Spindogs family as our new Front of House Champion.
As Front of House, Amanda looks after the office and our clients when they visit HQ, so keep a lookout for her friendly face in reception. In the space of just one month, she has already become a big part of the team, so we felt it was only right that she should have her own blog post!
We caught up with Amanda to see how she was settling into her new role and to find out her initial impressions about Team Spindogs. She also told us more about what it was like working with Kanye West…
How did you first hear about Spindogs?
I first heard about Spindogs through Matt (our senior designer) and he always said about the family dynamic of the company, and how you all help each other out. He also said how it was a great environment to work in, so when I saw the Front of House position I had to apply!
What is your role at Spindogs?
I am in charge of the incoming calls at Spindogs and I meet and greet clients, whilst providing them with hospitality before their meeting. I also look after the office and make sure everyone in the team has everything they need.
What do you like most about working at Spindogs?
I really like where I sit as I get to see everybody regularly, which is really important when you are the newbie! I also love working with the whole team and this is definitely the best part of my job.
How would you describe the Spindogs experience?
I would say that the Spindogs experience is very open and everyone goes out of their way to help each other. Everyone works very hard but there is definitely a fun element too.
What was your career path before Spindogs?
I did Fashion Design at University of South Wales and specialised in Menswear as I really wanted to push the boundaries within this area of fashion. I then did a lot of internships in the fashion world and then worked as a Design Consultant.
How would you describe yourself in three words?
I would say…Friendly, quirky and loyal.
What are you main interests?
Alongside fashion, I really love baking and watching films. Cupcakes are definitely my speciality and my favourite film is Jurassic Park as I love dinosaurs!
What is your favourite social media channel and why?
My favourite social media channel is definitely Instagram because I love taking photos, I would upload photos all day to my Instagram account if I could. I would definitely recommend following The Costa Sisters, E and W and Hannes Becker.
What is your can’t-live-without piece of technology?
My iPhone 6! It has everything I need, I use it for its camera and my music is on it too. A couple of weeks ago I didn’t have my phone and after a few days I had to borrow a phone because I missed it so much!
Tell us an interesting fact about yourself…
In 2012 I did an internship at Kanye West’s fashion label which was really interesting. Kanye came in everyday and he was very dedicated to his business. Whilst I was there I would help with the models and take photos of them in his second collection. I also got to help with the sewing so it was definitely an amazing opportunity.
