WHY SOCIAL MEDIA ISN’T WORKING FOR YOUR BUSINESS

With that many users online, it can be disheartening when your business’s social media page doesn’t gain an instant following. Unfortunately, social media isn’t that straightforward and requires time and attention to generate results.
If you’re not seeing the results you want, it’s likely you’re making one or more of the following top five mistakes businesses make when creating social media accounts.

1. You’re not adding value

It’s important that you don’t just use social media as a place to broadcast your products and services. However tempting it may be to promote your products at every chance you get, promotional posts can quickly become repetitive which may cause users to unfollow your account. Instead, your social media posts need to be relevant, engaging and informative to your users. Social media is your chance to get to know your users and produce content that they want to see, in a form they want to see it in. For each of your posts, you need to consider what value it will add to your users’ feed, be it important information or simple enjoyment.

2. You’re not interacting

Social media is all about being sociable, which is why it’s important you respond to any comments left on your posts. In doing so, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of who your users are and what they think of your brand. What’s more is, interacting with your users shows you care about what they have to say and enables you to build user trust through your responses.

3. You’re not posting regularly

Posting regularly will help encourage users to visit your account more frequently, whilst building your business a credible voice online. That isn’t to say you need to post every day but having a consistent posting schedule for relevant and engaging content is a key step to building your business’s social media following.

4. You’re not tracking analytics

Tracking your social media analytics will provide insight into your audience demographic and user engagement. This means, you can tailor your future posts to produce content that receives higher levels of engagement. You can even track which days and times are best for uploading, giving your posts a better chance at being seen by your audience.

5. You don’t have a strategy

Without a strategy, you’ll likely find yourself chasing your social media follower count, opposed to working towards goals that support your entire business. By putting together a strategy you can determine your business expectations and how your social media accounts can help you to achieve these objectives.
