The Client

As one of the UK’s largest trade associations, Logistics UK – formally Freight Transport Association (FTA) represents the interests of transport companies moving goods and provides them with support through safe, sustainable and efficient logistics. As well as members from across the road, rail, sea and air industries, Logistics UK represents the interests of freight service buyers such as retailers and manufacturers, ensuring everyone can rely on the efficient movement of goods.

Alongside raising awareness of the industry and providing best practice advice to ensure compliance, Logistics UK work to improve efficiency and sustainability by providing logistics professionals with additional training and assisting companies with smooth efficient transport operations.

The members of the Logistics UK operate over 200,000 lorries (which is nearly half the UK fleet!). Collectively they deliver more than 90% of freight moved by rail and 70% of the UK’s visible exports by sea and air.

The Brief

Having previously worked with Spindogs on their new Kentico main site, the Logistics UK approached us about an eCommerce project which would see their existing online and back-office shop capabilities replaced with an updated solution. Our task was to provide a mobile-friendly replacement for their current front and back-end functionalities, along with a redesign and additional cross-selling and upselling features.

The Solution

As the first step in replacing Logistics UK’s existing solution, we used Kentico’s eCommerce module to create customised functionalities which offer members and non-members different experiences, while also providing a seamless customer journey for everyone.

Over the course of the project we replicated and automated Logistics UK’s back end processes, which until now have been overly complicated and included a lot of manual tasks. We used Kentico’s ‘Basic shop’ out-of-the-box solution, which combines a range of back end reporting tools with innovative the front-end user experience features.

In addition to that, we used the Kentico platform framework to build all the bespoke functionalities Logistics UK required from their new eCommerce solution.  We also included essential development and business tools such as personalisation, activities tracking, contact management and Kentico Web Analytics, all of which were integrated with Microsoft Dynamics.

And guess what...

The Ecommerce website we built for Freight Transport Association was selected as ‘Site of the month-May 2019’ by Kentico, making it one of just two websites built by UK agencies to be recognised in the top 10.
