Jon’s role as a PHP Developer involves building the “backend” of web applications. Generally, this means efficiently storing, reading and transferring the data for an application so that it can be easily manipulated by the user interface, but also concerns thoughtful database design and architecture – structure – of the application.
Jon started as a CAD/CAM Programmer back in 2005 and started to gain experience in draughting technical drawings and writing procedural software macros that streamlined machining processes in the heavy steel manufacturing industry.
With nearly 10 years’ experience and a keen bias toward the development aspect of that role, Jon made the decision to change his career path and enrolled in a part time Open University degree in Computer Science in 2014. He quickly moved into an IT Support role and by early 2016, was taken on as a Software Developer in the Claims Management industry.
Jon’s biggest achievement to date has been welcoming his first child into the world in 2018 (all together now…aww) and in his spare time, he can be found, cooking, drinking coffee, exploring the countryside, drumming or doing DIY projects whilst listening to Djent (in case you need to google that, it’s a millennials adaption of prog metal).
