The Client

Acorn has been a leading recruitment provider since 1992 and believe that there’s more to recruitment than filling vacancies.

Through a network of more than 40 branches across the UK, being listed in the top 1% of UK leading recruiters, and a specialist division offering, they work with hundreds of UK and international businesses to make sure they can offer the best possible job opportunities out there.

Acorn came to Spindogs with three recruitment sites that they wanted to update, improve and merge into one master site.

The Brief

Acorn were looking for a modern, best in class recruitment website that reflected their position as one of the market-leading, multi-regional/specialist recruitment agencies.

The key objectives were to bring Acorn’s strengths and differentiators to life while communicating them in a meaningful way throughout the website. It was also important to increase traffic numbers and applications, specifically Google who weren’t landing on individual vacancies.

There was also real importance on showcasing and highlighting specific key areas of the business through an updated feel and look as well as a vastly improved user journey on the site, clearly separating the client and job seekers sections.

The Solution

We recognised the need to merge the sites and improve the overall look and feel of the main website. The navigation between mobile and desktop differed dramatically and the lengthy application/registration process also needed updating.

The client was also finding their old CMS difficult to use and restrictive in terms of templates and elements on the page and we also understood their need to be able to create micro-sites/campaign landing pages and to be able to post new and engaging blog posts.

Our solution was to upgrade them to the Umbraco CMS and offer training with our in-house expertise to ensure all users knew how to utilise and get the most out of the platform.

Umbraco has fully customisable web and design, comprehensive features for marketing personalisation, campaign management and lead generation, and its leading open source Microsoft .NET CMA is perfect for Microsoft integrations.

We also set up a support contract with our in-house support team to offer assistance wherever needed once the new site was launched.

We were able to design an attractive, user-friendly website that was adequately optimised for users accessing the site and filling out long forms via mobile and clearly separate the client/job seeker portals as well as integrating Broadbean (a multi-posting facility to manage jobs and candidate applications).
